Finguru is a budgeting app designed for a startup, blending deep customization with playful gamification. Built over six months, it transforms money management into an engaging, interactive routine. I designed both the app and the website with a clear, intuitive flow so users can navigate their finances with confidence and ease.

FinGuru, A Fintech Responsive Website & App Design

Simplify the budgeting

Crafted an intuitive and user-friendly interface, enabling users to navigate effortlessly and comprehend the app's features, thereby fostering a positive user experience.

1

Improve the engagement

Acknowledging the pivotal role engagement plays in the level of interaction, involvement, and activity that users have with the app, we introduced gamification elements to address this issue.

2

Maintaining user retention using gamification and a mascot involves creating an engaging and enjoyable user experience that encourages users to continue interacting with our app

Better than average user retention

3

Business Goals

Gamification was utilised to maintain user retention, higher the time soent in the app, and lower churn. Rewards, progress tracking, and our friendly mascot played a big part in making this happen.

Discovery Stage

User research

Before delving into solutions, our approach involved aligning user problems with business goals. The application of the Double Diamond Framework guided us through a structured design process.

Development Stage

Designing things right

Based on the user problems and business goals, we started to develop the design ideas using sketches and low/mid fidelity wireframes. Based on user tests, we did several iterations.

Sketches

Mid-Fidelity Explorations

Moderated and Unmoderated UX Tests (Iterations)

“Clear all button” was replaced with “Deselect all”

3 out of 5 respondents thought it would clear the widget on the home page.

The preview of the widget was removed

4 out of 5 respondents got back to the home page after getting into the “Add widget” page due to confusion.

Long scrolling made confusion for the users.

“Fixed and Flexible” expenses were separated with a segmented control to decrees the scrolling.

Once the product was delivered, we started collecting user feedback and monitoring main metrics. We did usability tests and did lots of iterations.

Making sure that the final product works well

At the end of the usability tests from 10 users, we asked “On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely is it that you would recommend Finguru to a friend or colleague?”

Net Promoter Score (NPS) 9.5/10

3

Task Completion Rate 80%

80% of users successfully completed our key task, which was setting a new goal.

2

Task Completion Time

Comparing the initial round of usability tests to the final round, there was a notable enhancement in completion time, with a reduction of up to 30 seconds. This improvement signifies the success of our iterative design process.
